Wendell was born and raised in Alabama. He met his wife and raised his family in Alabama.
Wendell has dedicated his entire life to keeping his family and community safe. As a grandfather, Wendell wants to make Alabama safe for generations to come.
As a high school student, Wendell Major joined the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Explorers Club program to help his community become safer.
After high school, Wendell joined the United States Marines Corps to help keep our nation safe. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Wendell obtained his law degree from the Birmingham School of law.
Wendell is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in addition to being a licensed polygrapher. Wendell has spent over 30 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Jefferson County.
As the Chief of Police for the city of Tarrant Wendell knows the challenges law enforcement has to overcome to keep us all safe. Wendell knows that policing for profit is wrong and hurts families and will put an end to it in Alabama. Wendell Major sees every day the devastation the opioid crisis is having on Alabama families and will work every day to put and end to this plague.
